Whiddy Island Jetty Remedial Works

Bantry Bay

LCF Marine have successfully completed environmentally sensitive remedial works to the off-shore jetty at Whiddy Island in Bantry Bay.

The jetty had remained untouched since the Betelgeuse disaster in 1979 and had considerable amounts of fire-damaged material in need of removal.

The works involved removal of hazardous loose and attached steel and other debris from the jetty.

Navigation lanterns, stands, ladders, gates and warning signs were also installed.

Vessels 'An tOileanach' and 'Kismet' operated in tandem during the project.

The works were completed ahead of schedule.
